In late August, a delegation led by Zheng Yuanbao, Chairman of People Holding Group (China), and Ye Xiangyu, General Manager of People Electric Group Import & Export Co., Ltd., carried out a several-day inspection and exchange visit to Angola, Africa. The mission centered on deepening practical cooperation and advancing the implementation of key projects. Rao Wenhui, Head of the Africa Region of People Electric Group Import & Export Co., Ltd., and Wen Huaiyu, Plenipotentiary Representative of People Holding Group in Angola, accompanied the delegation.
On August 26 local time, the delegation arrived at the site of the Kaikai Hydropower Station — known as the "Three Gorges Project of Africa" — for an on-site inspection. Located in the middle reaches of the Cuanza River in Cuanza Norte Province, Angola, the Kaikai Hydropower Station is the largest hydropower project undertaken by Chinese-funded enterprises in the country. Warmly received by Ren Wenlian, General Commander of the Project Department of Haishan Group Angola, and other management personnel, the delegation went deep into the construction frontline to learn in detail about the project progress, technical processes and follow-up plans, and spoke highly of this landmark project of China-Angola cooperation.
On August 29, People Holding Group and Haishan Group formally signed the Cooperation Framework Agreement at Haishan Group’s Angola headquarters. Zheng Gang, Chairman of Haishan Group, and Zheng Yuanbao, Chairman of People Holding Group, signed the agreement on behalf of both parties.Under the agreement, the procurement scale of complete power equipment sets will reach 100 million US dollars within the cooperation framework in the coming years. The two sides will also launch in-depth cooperation in the investment and construction of power infrastructure in Angola and neighboring countries. Guided by the principles of equality, mutual benefit, complementary advantages and common development, both parties will give full play to their respective strengths in technology, brand, capital and local resources, build a long-term, stable and win-win strategic cooperative partnership, and jointly cultivate the Angolan and surrounding Southern African markets.This signing marks a brand-new stage of bilateral cooperation, and represents another important achievement of People Holding Group in accelerating its international layout and deeply integrating into the Belt and Road Initiative.
On August 31, People Holding Group and Haishan Group jointly met with João Baptista Borges, Minister of Energy and Water of Angola, and Arlindo Bota Manuel Carlos, Secretary of State for Energy and Water. The two sides held in-depth exchanges on topics including Angola’s power infrastructure construction and localized production of energy equipment, and reached broad consensus. The Angolan side warmly welcomed People Holding Group’s investment and business operations in Angola, and expressed the expectation that all parties would deepen practical cooperation to jointly promote the high-quality development of Angola’s energy and power sector, and make positive contributions to Angola’s economic and social progress as well as China-Angola friendship.
