Circuit Protection Measures

While electricity brings convenience, it also comes with potential risks. To ensure electrical safety and reduce accident risks, a series of circuit protection measures have been developed. Here are the common ones:

1.Overcurrent Protection

It prevents current from exceeding the safe carrying capacity of equipment or circuits. Usually implemented by fuses or circuit breakers, which automatically disconnect the circuit when current exceeds the preset value.

2.Overvoltage Protection

It protects equipment from voltage exceeding its maximum withstand range. Realized by voltage regulators, varistors and other components to keep voltage within the safe range.

3.Overheating Protection

It avoids component damage or fire hazards caused by excessive temperature. Temperature is monitored by thermistors (e.g., PTC) and temperature sensors, with power cut off once the temperature exceeds the set threshold.

4.Short-Circuit Protection

A short circuit is an extreme overcurrent condition that causes current to surge to dangerous levels. This protection is designed to respond quickly and disconnect the circuit to prevent severe damage.

5.Undervoltage Protection

Activated when voltage falls below the normal operating range, it protects equipment from abnormal operation under low-voltage conditions. This can be achieved via undervoltage release or similar mechanisms.
